I'm Dave, the sponsorship exec of Buzz. I manage all sponsorships and help the club out in many other ways. I'm from Toronto, Canada. When I moved to Hong Kong 6 years ago, I began dragon boating with Buzz and never looked back. Having canoed lots in Canada, dragon boat was recommended to me and it was a perfect fit. After one season I fell in love with the team and became captain for a few years before continuing to help in the background.

For a newcomer to Hong Kong like me, Buzz was a great way to meet new people. But unlike most other teams out there it gave me a chance to experience the cultural and historical significance of dragon boating in Hong Kong; Buzz is fortunate to be invited to several traditional races in its season which bring you all over the region and let you participate in its indigenous culture.

Where some teams are 80% social – 20% competitive, or 90% competitive – 10% social, Buzz is 100% both. We train harder than any team I’ve seen, and we chug out of the gold trophies we win. Best team in Hong Kong!
